Our Preschool Day
In our usual preschool day we have two large ‘blocks’ of unhurried time dedicated to free play. During these times we provide a range of varied activities and equipment for the children to select to play with (e.g. painting, building, craft, cooperative games, music, movement, stories, sand play). These activities are planned considering the group’s interests, needs and development. They will help your child learn new skills or to practise old ones. We believe children learn best when they are interested, engaged and discover their world through hands-on play experiences.
Term 1 & 4
Summer
9am - 9:15am Children arrive- unpack school bags, and wash their hands.
9:15am - 9:30am: Good morning, mark roll, days of the week.
9:30am - 10:00am:Grouptime - Read story, language group time and songs. We have a Sun protection discussions and put our hat and sunscreen on.
10:00 - 11:30am: Acknowledgement of country-Outdoor play
10:30am - 11:00am: Children invited to sit to eat recess
11:30am - 12:00 am: Move indoors- Music and movement time.
12:00am - 2:00pm: Indoor programmed activities (refer to program)
1:00pm - 1:30pm: Invited to collect lunch box/drink and sit to eat lunch
1:35pm: Pack away lunch box in school bag
1:40pm- 2:10pm: Indoor munch and move time -
2:20pm - 2.45pm: Place drink bottles in school bag - listening story/ relaxation/yoga time and debrief about our day.
2:50pm - 3pm: Pack up school bag, hand out notes; bell rings for home time.
Term 2 & 3
Winter
9am - 9:15am Children: arrive, unpack school bag, and wash hands.
9:15am - 9:30am: Good morning, mark roll, days of the week.
9:30am- 10:00am: Group time - Read story, language group time and songs.
10:00am - 10:45am: Indoor programmed activities- blocks, puzzles and yarning area (refer to program)
10:30am - 11:00am: Free flow Recess
10:55am: toilet and wash hands
11am - 12:15 pm : Indoor programmed activities- Home corner, games, painting, play dough , fine motor and drawing.
12:15 pm: Sun Protection discussions hat and sunscreen.
12:15am - 12:45pm: Story, language group time
12:45 Pm - 2:00pm:Acknowledgment of country- Outdoor play
1pm - 1:30pm: Invited to collect lunch box and drink bottle and sit to eat
1:30pm: Pack away lunch box into school bag, place hat on head, apply sunscreen.
2:00pm - 2:15pm: Munch and move/gross motor activities inside (for wet weather)
2:20pm - 2:45pm: Place lunch box and drink bottles in school bag and hats in locker -Story/relaxation/yoga time - Discuss our Preschool day.
2:50pm - 3:00 pm: Pack up school bag, hand out notes, bell rings for home time.
